Some visitors express disappointment during peak hours, especially on Saturdays when the pub reaches full capacity. Limited space can lead to longer waits, which isn’t ideal if you're looking for a quick meal. A few diners have noted that the menu’s variety can feel overwhelming, with so many delightful options to choose from. On occasion, the noise level may rise during popular events, sometimes overshadowing conversations. While the outdoor seating is a hit, management has received feedback regarding occasional cleanliness issues in the beer garden. Still, these concerns often don’t overshadow the overall positive experience.
Called in Sunday after our usual walk along the canal. Friendl staff and made to feel very welcome. The landlady went out of her way to make us and the dogs felt welcome. Treats for the dogs and a piece of cake for us. Exceptional hospitality unlike the other pub near the boat yard. We will be back for Sunday lunch. Atmosphere very friendly, cosy feel to the place.
Cracking local pub selling locally sourced food. Pool Table, lovely beer garden, Ales sold from the brewery next door. Had some haddock and chips, cooked beautifully! Batter was done perfect, nice to cut through and very tasty! Chips were far better than most pubs I've seen so far. Will be returning here at some point in time! Thank you to the team!
Absolutely fantastic place, lovely food every time we have visited. Staff are friendly and attentive. Service is brilliant. Beer garden a brilliant stop on a long canal ride, well worth the 20 mile ride to get there.
Amazing food! Fish and chips were cooked to perfection, generous portions great value for money. Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere thank you👌
Excellent Food, Drink and Staff. Lovely little pub which we chanced upon as the pub up the road was not doing food due to logistical issues. Very friendly staff who had reserved us a table earlier in the day. The menu was varied and the food of excellent quality. The beer was cold and tasty and the Idle Brewery adjoins this property. The staff were very attentive the whole evening. We will certainly return when in the area and this pub is the better of the 2 in West Stockwith.
Popped in as we were on holiday close by. And have to say the food was wonderful and I really like my real ale but couldn't choose so was given tasters to help me decide. Great service, food and hospitality well worth a visit.
Lovely food as always, and our servers were very nice. Will return again soon, I'm sure.
